I recently listened to a leadership podcast entitled, “Hello / Goodbye” with Jo Saxton and Steph O’Brien (take a listen here http://leadstoriespodcast.com/hello-goodbye-2019-2020).
In preparation for a new year, the topic was about welcoming in and saying, “Hello!” to the new and saying, “Goodbye!” to the old.
At the start of a New Year, we’re always so eager to say, “Hello!” In fact, we’re often very intentional with our “Hellos!” this time of year. Hello to a new diet or New Year’s Resolution. Hello to a new season, new goals or a fresh start.
But what struck me most about this particular podcast was the practice of saying, “Goodbye!” Sometimes we have to say, “Goodbye!” or let go of something to be open to the new things we want or need to say, “Hello!” to.
How often do we really stop to think about what we might need to say, “Goodbye!” to in order to say, “Hello!” to the new and perhaps even better?
What about your practice? What does your team plan to say, “Goodbye!” and “Hello!” to this year?
- “Goodbye!” to negativity, apathy or disengaged team members and “Hello!” to positivity and committed team members?
- “Goodbye!” to the spreadsheet tracking system you’ve outgrown and “Hello!” to investing in a new digitized or CRM system?
- “Goodbye!” to a, “This is the way we’ve always done it” mentality and “Hello!” to making a new path forward?
- “Goodbye!” to aging technology and “Hello!” to upgraded technology that serves your patients and your practice better?
Change can be daunting but it’s necessary to grow.
So as we prepare to say, “Goodbye!” to the last decade and to 2019, what are you planning to say, “Goodbye!” to personally, professionally or in your practice?
What are you going to say, “Hello!” to?
Whatever it is, I wish you the best of luck on your journey and look forward to hearing all about it in the New Year.
If you’re looking to say, “Goodbye!” to some old processes or, “Hello!” to a new Collaborative Care Model, let’s talk.
I always love the chance to say, “Hello!”
