Change is hard.
It’s hard for all of us.
Which is exactly why so many practices are resistant to start a referral network program.
But…
If there’s one thing that’s constant in the world, it’s change.
Change is inevitable.
There are good changes and bad changes.
For example, the change of a new diet or exercise plan to make us healthier and stronger.
Or…
Changes in our body such as obesity and heart disease brought on by not eating right and exercising.
Both changes.
Both fully within our control.
But one hard change leads to a better, stronger, healthier place.
The other change, while easier in the moment, ultimately leads to a place of stress and deterioration.
Speaking of change…
In the practice setting, there will be change, and lots of it.
You’re either going to experience the growing pains of an ever-evolving practice or the pains of declining patient volume.
You get to choose your change.
Just like it’s hard for you to change your habits, it’s hard for referring doctors as well.
Which is why persistence pays.
If you’re a physician liaison frustrated that a potential referring practice hasn’t referred a patient or started using your new online referral tool, hang in there.
It may take a while.
But if you quit… There’s no chance for change to happen.
Yes, change is hard, but change is inevitable.
Which change will you make?
