Gratitude makes us better. It helps us to get outside of our tunnel vision and recognize all of the gifts we’ve been given.
In fact, Harvard Medical School relates that, “Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.”
So, here are just a few things to be grateful for:
The ability to do life altering work
With the hustle and bustle of a busy organization, it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that you change lives.
Every.
Single.
Day.
Your team
Your team works hard to ensure patients are well cared for day in and day out. Without your team, none of what you do would be possible. I like what Paul Spiegelman and Britt Berrett say in their book Patients Come Second, “Always put your people first.”
Your patients
Without patients, there would be no practice. Patients have a choice when it comes to their care, and they are choosing to see you.
Referring partners
Referring partners send patients you would not have the privilege of caring for otherwise, and it is an honor that another physician trusts you enough to care for their patients.
The list could go on and on.
So, if you haven’t already…
Take a minute to step back and reflect or let someone know you appreciate them.
What are you grateful for?
P.S. I’m truly grateful for each of you and the opportunity to do what I love every day. Thank you for all of your support and allowing me to serve you.
