Setbacks.
We all have them.
But what happens when you have setbacks with your referral network program?
Perhaps the pandemic set you back and you haven’t quite recovered, or a staff turnover set you back.
Or…
You just lost focus.
Setbacks can happen for all kinds of reasons.
They happen to all of us.
Maybe you’re in one right now.
So how do you bounce back?
Several months ago, I suffered from a sudden and unexpected health crisis. To this day, doctors still can’t explain exactly what happened or why.
And the recovery has taken longer than any of us expected.
To call it a setback feels like an understatement.
But…
There are several valuable lessons I’ve learned through the process about bouncing back.
If you’ve had a setback (or are experiencing one right now), and you’re ready to start making progress again, keep reading…
Make an honest assessment.
What can you realistically accomplish right now?
Chances are, you may not be able to do everything but there are likely one or two key areas you can focus on to make progress.
Gather your cheering section.
When you’re smack dab in the middle of a setback is exactly when you need your best cheerleaders around you.
There is no room for negativity.
Progress is still progress.
Even baby steps are still steps in the right direction.
Just keep moving.
Even if you have to crawl.
Use the slower pace to listen and learn the lessons you can’t learn when things are moving too quickly.
When we’re too busy, there’s no space to listen or learn.
Sometimes slowing down to speed up is necessary.
Take the first step.
Some practices will say that they need to do X, Y and Z before they can get back on track and then five years later, they’re still not on track.
Priorities are great but they must be balanced with taking the first step.
So, you had a setback.
We all do.
Take that first step back in the right direction.
And the next one.
And the next one.
And before you know it, you’ll be back and better than ever.
